The post-punk new wave rock outfit The Republic features Dee (guitar), John (bass), Mark (drums) and Tommy (Vocals). The Los Angeles based 4 piece was formed in early 2002 and immediately began gigging. The Republic's brand of energetic dance rock (influenced by bands ranging from The Clash and Motley Crue to Depeche Mode and The Cure) gave them an instant industry buzz and led them to multiple production development deals around LA. The Republic won the Sam Ash Southern California Battle of The Bands contest in summer of 2003 and were invited to perform at the annual EATIM convention in Las Vegas. The Republic supported 80s New Wave band Flock of Seagulls on their West Coast Tour in 2004 and have opened up for 80s icon bands, General Public/ English Beat, Missing Persons, Dramarama and Gene Loves Jezebel. The Republic have gotten local radio airplay on stations such as KCRW, Indie 103.1, KROQ and various college and internet stations around Southern California as well as receiving stellar reviews in Music Connection Magazine and numerous webzines. The Republic continue to gig locally working with Sean Healey Presents bringing their punchy modern sound to venues such as: House of Blues, The El Rey Theatre, The Whiskey, The Roxy, Key Club, Knitting Factory, Dragonfly, Viper Room and many more. The Republic are currently finishing up their first official CD release on Sin/King Records Due out August 2006 LOST IN LOVE.
