Liars - It Fit When I Was A Kid (remixed by Crystal Castles) (5:23) MP3 aqui

Fear is a very powerful emotion.

The last band to so expertly execute the cocktail of menace and artful, brilliant chaos that Liars achieve for their second album, "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned", were fellow New Yorkers Sonic Youth, when they cut their epochal Bad Moon Rising album. It's a record from a band in transition, severing their ties with the scene they kinda inaugurated and have now, decidedly, outgrown. A band defining themselves only in terms of what they wish to achieve, the limits of their imagination. A band withdrawing to a basement deep in the wilds somewhere and letting their every little wrinkle of rampant creativity and twisted genius seep deep into the shadows of this most poignant and chilling ghost story.

Owls - Everyone Is My Friend (3:26) MP3 aqui

Nada que ver con The owls, de los cuales mencionamos su bonita Air.

Tim Kinsella had spent the second half of the '90s trying to shake his past by writing far-fetched concept records with his dreamy post-Cap'N Jazz band Joan Of Arc. But that band's particular brand of art-rock never quite rocked the way certain fans hoped it would-thus, when word seeped out in the fall of 2000 that Kinsella had called in his childhood friends for a band that would essentially pick up where Cap'N Jazz left off, underground circles were abuzz with the idea of a more "accessible" sound being brought forth. This did not happen. Instead, Kinsella presented his Owls: a unique four piece collective that would blend free-jazz improvisation with loose and poetic post-punk that sounded like a Boy-era U2 taking hits of homemade acid. Though it wasn't quite the scream-and-strum return to form many expected, with Owls, Kinsella and his former mates have managed to reach out to a new generation of fans who can still respect him in the morning. Even when he is singing about having sex with Jesus.

Nice Nice - Nein (5:57) MP3 aqui

Formally carrying the name Nice Nice since 1999, guitarist Jason Buehler and percussionist Mark Shirazi have been playing music together for over ten years. Their intense rhythmic dialogue heard in their songs speaks volumes about the connection between the two as they layer runaway melodies and free-form noise into some of the most creative beat-based rock music you will ever hear. It's not unrealistic to assume that you've never heard anything like it, as most everyone that's ever witnessed their awe-inspiring live shows is left speechless, with nothing to compare it to. Most shocking is the fact that it's largely improvisational and always live. No overdubs, no samples. Certainly not the first band to successfully trap virtuoso playing into loops that you can dance to, Nice Nice has definitely done so with the least amount of pretense, making it both intellectually stimulating and fun as hell to listen to. They say it, we believe it, and that settles it!-Download.com
