NORTON - Gira española
Vamos hoy con una banda descubierta gracias al MySpace. Son portugueses y por lo que he ojeado, estuvieron en el ComtePOPránea, y pronto harán una gira por algunas ciudades de España, concretamente: Toledo, el festival Microsonidos de Murcia, del cual no tenía ni idea, y luego pondremos un post para saber qué bandas tocarán en él y finalmente cerrarán su gira en la sala Fotomatón de Madrid.
Ojeando más han estado en varias ciudades durante el 2007 y 2008.

Cuando lees Suecia, dices "Esto será...genial" Pero ojo, hay diferentes estilos, y este es un álbum diferente y único, de primeras no es fácil de escuchar.

Fluttery Records describes A Journey Down The Well’s music as to be the point where the soul of minimal classical music meet modern forms such as ambient. They are creating extraordinary works, since the band was formed by two Swedish and one Turkish musician (Martin Bjelfvenstam, Anna Erneman and Taner Torun) in 2006. Although the band thinks none of the genres really fit, their music is commonly tagged as post-rock, ambient, experimental and avant-garde. Due to their orchestrated arrangements with cello, violin, piano and choir they are familiar with minimal and contemporary classical music.
The band was formed on a summer night in 2006 as a result of an accidental meeting in a Mediterranean town. Soon after, they started recording in an empty flat. Their debut The Funeral Album was released in 2007. Although it was firstly released as a digital self-release by the band members (without a record label and physical CDs), the band made an international fan base and the album gained a big attention. Also, the album was critically acclaimed and shown as one of the most important releases of 2007 by many websites. While they were recording, they didn’t know they were recording their debut. “Working together was fine; than we decided we were a music band.” Anna says. They named their band as A Journey Down The Well getting inspiration from the well, Alice In Wonderland falls into. Heavy use of drones with the strings and piano and infinite sadness were the main characteristics of The Funeral Album.
After signing to Fluttery Records, the band spent 2008 summer for recording their new pieces. Strandvägen Choir supported the band in recording process of their second album; Sorry Monsters, I Have To Grow. (Release Date : 07 Jan 2009 Fluttery Records)
Sorry Monsters, I Have To Grow is the album, the band goes one step further. They fallowed a composition driven approach, rather than improvisation unlike their first album. It is an anti-war album which is also about growing and fighting against oppressions.

A Journey Down The Well is known for their unique style with classical music instruments driven to create a special sound which flirts with rock, ambient and experimentalism.
“Sorry Monsters, I Have To Grow” is their second station on their journey; the strings create a smoky and haunting downtempo ambience with the piano; lyrical songs wink poetry.
Also, band is backed by the members of Strandvägen Choir in the recording process. “Working with a choir has made a powerful impact, I can’t imagine ‘Sugarman’ and ‘Sorry Monster, I Have To Grow’ without their parts” says the cellist Martin Bjelfvenstam.
According to the band members the album is about brutal wars, oppressions for personality and trying grow as a human being leaving all the unnecessary fears behind. “Despite the bombs, despite the guns, despite people building prisons for themselves and others.” Taner Torun adds.
According to Anna Erneman, their contemporary classical influences get one step ahead in this album. “We are inspired by many elements. Chilly sound of post-punk, eye openers like A Silver Mt. Zion and Godspeed You Black Emperor; Brian Eno and many others... But, in this album our derivations from contemporary classical composers like Arvo Pärt, Richard Einhorn and Henryk Gorecki are dominant.”

Franz Ferdinand - "Ulysses" VIDEO
La noche oscura del alma para Alex Kapranos y Cia. El primer single del nuevo disco de Franz Ferdinand deja entrever algo de eso en su video. “Ulysses”, el tema en cuestión, ya se había filtrado en la red a mediados de noviembre del año pasado, y es un ejemplo palpable de que la banda escocesa mantiene intacto el talento para componer piezas que incitan al baile, ladear la cabeza como posesos y repetir hasta el hartazgo el “lalala” de siempre. El tercer disco de los engreídos de Domino Records, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, busca reinventar la propuesta de la banda, y por lo escuchado hasta el momento incorpora elementos electrónicos y cierto tono crepuscular. Por lo demás, como en sus anteriores placas, lo de ellos es el desenfreno y la pista llena de chicas lindas danzando.--REVISTA69

Son indies y por eso están aqui. Y además es una banda con parte cántabra y parte salmantina. Con lo que, con más razón. Por fin algo por tierras charritas para escuchar.
No voy a entrar en si el tema es bueno para Eurovisión. Creo que no lo es. Aunque a mi me encante, a mi se me haya pegado la cancioncilla, y por qué no, a mi me gustan temitas, que por unas razones u otras, te resultan cercanos.
Me alegro mucho que hayan pasado a la Semifinal, enhorabuena! Todo lo que sea para aumentar la promo y estar presente en el panorama nacional .. :)
Los alumnos de la profe han hecho los deberes.
Pero ya digo, quitando la anécdota de Eurovisión, que sirve ahora para darnos a conocer a la banda, y que incluso mis padres me los mencionen, todo un logro!! Lo que importa es que tenemos banda por aqui, y además que me gustan mucho los temas de su MySpace. Para algun@s resultarán simplones, como he leido por ahi, en comentarios del video en MySpace o YouTube. Y para otros en lo sencillo está lo que nos engancha.
Simplones he de decir que se refieren para Eurovisión, hay que poner algo pegadizo. Basta poner el ejemplo de las Ketchup, muy famosas...pero el tema resultó muy soso en su puesta en escena.
Pero da igual, que Eurovisión es otro tema. Y de eso ya se habla mucho en otros sitios. Asi que, aqui solo disfrutemos de otra canción del panorama nacional como es Una chica normal.

A las 23.59 horas de ayer noche finalizó el plazo de votaciones para elegir a los 50 aspirantes de la preselección española de Eurovisión. Ya conocemos los nombres de los 50 artistas y grupos que tendrán que demostrar su talento para conseguir el billete para ir a Moscú este mes de mayo.
Los que pasan a la siguiente fase son los cinco artistas más votados de cada una de las 10 categorías musicales propuestas:

Saboteur
Llevo como un par de meses que no compruebo las Friends Requests del MySpace, las agrego sin más. A lo mejor escucho la música... pero no profundizo mucho, lo estoy dejando para más tarde. Y al final habrá cosillas que no caerán por aqui. Pero si una banda directamente te agrega y en su mensaje te deja escuchar su disco... y si no suena nada mal como es el caso de esta banda alemana, hay que hacer un post sobre ellos.
Me ha sorprendido muy gratamente lo que he escuchado, asi que, os recomiendo que os lo descarguéis y le deis un par de escuchas, y ya me diréis.

Real Moments in my life proving to me that music is a true Art form capable of bringing both heartbreak and perspective. The music these bands/artists created captured something about the human experience and put it on display with a frailty so intimate that one could begin to use the word "damaged" in a good way; Damaged like a pair of well-worn hands.
With minds, hearts and hands The Champion and His Burning Flame is searching for the importance in Art. Some day He'll find it, trap it, teach it to sing, and then you'll be in for it; yes, in for it.

After a summer recording session, two of those friends, Jeremy and Tim, joined the band and the foursome set to work on their first project. Bella are a trio whose music gets you all tangled up in a West coast indie pop synth dream, complete with soaring guitars and unique vocals. While recording No One Will Know, Bella called in their friends Roddy Bottum and Will Schwartz (Imperial Teen) and Jason Martin (Starflyer 59) and joined forces with producer/understated mastermind Dave Carswell of JC/DC Studios (Tegan and Sara, New Pornographers). The result is a sparkling Mint Records debut that channels its influences from a synthier time - but in a gorgeous, non-ironic kind of way.
Bella has performed with bands such as The New Pornographers, The Breeders, Imperial Teen,The Most serene republic, Billy Bragg, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Brunettes, The Organ, and Viva Voce.

Passion Pit
Ojeando algunas listas de lo Mejor del 2008, entre ellas algunos blogs, me he encontrado con una banda, cuya portada me suena,pero supongo que es porque se parece a alguna otra. Por si no los conocíais como yo, o para darle un oportunidad a ese grupo que has visto por algún lado pero luego se te ha pasado escuchar...
Su música me recuerda a la de la banda MGMT, y a la ya futura página que cae para convertirse en discográfica, goodweatherforairstrikes.com pasará a ser NeonGoldRecords, además de a MGMT, suenan a The Go!Team y a Black Kids. Y en lo nuevo que trabajan habrá sonido del estilo de Ratat.
Aqui va su tema -el mejor del año para GoodWeatherForAirStrikes-:

Boston’s Passion Pit is the brainchild of Michael Angelakos. A songwriter’s songwriter drawing from a variety of influences, from the classic pop of Randy Newman to the synth work of Giorgio Moroder.
The Chunk of Change EP was originally put together as a (belated) Valentine’s Day present to Angelakos’ girlfriend which then prompted him to give it out to friends and fellow students at Emerson College. Angelakos wrote and recorded the entire record by himself and it only hints at what is to come from this extremely talented perfectionist. The production of the recording - brief, sporadic, and explosive - worked towards the development of Angelakos’ signature euphoric and blissfully melancholic sound. Frenchkiss Records will reissue the ep this fall with the addition of two bonus tracks “Better Things” and “Sleepyhead” that are already catching the online world on fire. All of this is in preparation for Passion Pit’s debut full length coming out in early 2009.
