Canciones para la promo de Bones

Hoy vuelve Bones a la Sexta, entre las canciones que están usando para la promo está la canción "Around the bend" de Asteroids Galaxy Tour (Post) , que fue usada para un spot de Ipod Touch.
Pero mi intención no es hablar de la serie, sino de la primera canción que escuché ayer para las promos, y que me sorprendió gratamente. Y es que, yo confieso que si alguna vez tuviera la oportunidad de pinchar un ratito, la canción con la que empezaría mi sesión sería con ésta:

"Again & Again" de The bird and the bee
De la cual ya hemos hablado en el 2007 por aquí y que otros descubrísteis porque en test sobre "bandas indies de fuera" del FB os salió ésta ;).

Accidental Experimental "isn't like a regular record," says Los Angeles-based songwriter Inara George of the 11-song digital-only release from Everloving. "This was like digging into the back of the closet and bringing out your favorite winter clothes."

And Inara George wears many outfits. Also known for her work as one half of retro-electro duo The Bird and The Bee, Inara George's 2005 debut solo album All Rise was a hit for KCRW and included a cover of Joe Jackson’s “Fool’s In Love,” which was made popular on Grey’s Anatomy and the accompanying soundtrack album.

Some of the songs on Accidental Experimental have been with Inara George for some time, including a few which would become the blueprint for 2008's An Invitation, her lush and epic collaboration with legendary arranger and Brian Wilson collaborator Van Dyke Parks.

To complete Accidental Experimental, George teamed up again with producer and frequent collaborator Mike Andrews (Donnie Darko, Grey Boy All-Stars). "I trust Mike's sensibilities," says George of working with Andrews in the recording studio. "I usually lay down scratch vocals and a guitar track, maybe some piano and then he fills it up with additional instrumentation. He put lots of his own personality into the songs, and knows where things need more attention."

Together they have outfitted Accidental Experimental with a mixture of baroque pop, experimental folk, and romantic balladry that fans of both her solo work and band efforts will immediately find familiar and essential.

As intoxicating as a Brazilian breeze and ironic as a David Lynch night in L.A., the Los Angeles duo the Bird and the Bee make a soothingly hip, deliriously cool blend of pop. Inara George is a breathy singer who channels Astrud Gilberto via Julee Cruise. Although still little known, she's the daughter of the late Lowell George of Little Feat, and she already has recordings out with a couple of other bands. Keyboardist and producer Greg Kurstin has worked with Beck and the Flaming Lips, among many others, and the duo share a passion for that brand of art pop along with the more whimsical indie strains of Le Tigre. The album is overflowing with references from '60s pop harpsichords to girl-group choruses. You half expect Lesley Gore to come out singing harmony on "I'm a Broken Heart," an homage to "It's My Party." A jazz aficionado, Kurstin has put all kinds of jazzbo touches in here, including some unlikely chord changes and tropicalia moods. Only "F*cking Boyfriend," with that phrase chanted in the chorus, seems artlessly out of place on an album that revels in sly innuendo and emotional ambiguity. --John Diliberto
