A group hailing from the Garden State, preparing to take the music world by storm. Mixing influences ranging from Jeff Buckley to Jimmy Eat World, from Elliott Smith to Brand New, and from Elvis Costello to Weezer, Tourmaline creates an unmistakable blend of thoughtful melodies, balls-out rock, and traditional pop.

Tourmaline began preparing to take over the music scene when they formed in the late spring of 2004. Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Matt Rauch recruited his brother Max (18, drums) and family friends Ryan Baredes, (guitar) and Corey Zaloom (17, keyboards) to take his songs in a new direction. They then went on to record their debut album, Strange Distress Calls" with producer Chris Badami (The Early November) winter of 2004.

When the album was completed, the band was picked up by local record label No Milk Records. After the album's release in June 2005, Tourmaline hit the road. Over the course of the summer, Tourmaline toured throughout the east coast and Midwest with Just Surrender (Broken English) and Socratic (Drive Thru). The band spent last fall on tour with Kaddisfly (Hopeless Records), Dave Melillo (Drive Thru), and Cute is What We Aim For (Fueled By Ramen Records). Since its release, "Strange Distress Calls" has sold over 1200 copies in the United States.

Tourmaline recently parted ways with No Milk Records and acquired a new bassist (Justin Niemiec). They are excited to unleash their new five-song EP, which was again self-funded and recorded with producer Chris Badami. The band is thrilled to be heading back out on tour this June on the Purevolume.com sponsored "In The Shadow of Two Gunmen Tour" with the Forecast (Victory Records), Socratic (Drive-Thru Records), and Mashlin (One Eleven Records).

Tourmaline's hard work ethic, do it yourself mentality, and never ending edication prove that Tourmaline is a precious gem in today's music scene.
