Canciones para ti

Swati "Blackjack" (MP3)
Small Gods

Info in Filter-mag.com:
Starting her musical career in the classical world, New York City native Swati studied trombone on academic scholarhips and made her performing debut at Carnegie Hall. Soon after though, she abandoned the classical world to explore her own songwriting and guitar playing. Fitting right in with the New York club scene, Swati uses her performances as a form of catharsis and connecting to others with her intimate and startling songcraft.

Soundling like it would feel right at home on the classic Reality Bites soundtrack, we've got her lead-off track, “Blackjack,” from the debut album, Small Gods, out May 1st below!

The Clientele "Bookshop Cassanova" (MP3)
God Save The Clientele

Info in Filter-mag.com:
It’s almost humanly impossible to listen to The Beach Boys without wishing for two tons of hot sand to appear out of nowhere, descend upon whatever it is you’re doing, and transform it into a giant Southern Californian barbecue. However, if you’re out of SPF mid 60s and still in need of an escape, English-born pop quartet The Clientele can, in the span of a single tune, roll out five hundred feet of fog, light every lantern in London, and curl enough ivy around your front door to convince you it opens onto a British rose garden. Ever since their debut LP Suburban Light in 2000, lead singer Alasdair MacLean and crew have been spinning tales of surrealist sadness curtained in reverb and retro guitar riffs, charming sounds that have churned up a loyal US following and practically necessitated the release of their new record God Save The Clientele, out May 8th on Merge Records.

“Bookshop Casanova” is the first single off God Save The Clientele, and it reveals a band perfectly perched between the emotional extremes of adult life. A little melancholy muffles the otherwise lively mix of dance-hall drums and sprightly orchestrations, and MacLean’s mysterious voice sounds like it knows a lot more than it’s telling us, luring even the most leisurely of listeners: “You’ve got my name / You’ve got my number / come on down / let’s be lovers.” Don’t be coy; take a listen to The Clientele below.

Illinois "Screen Door" (MP3)
What The Hell Do You Know EP

Info in Filter-mag.com:
Yep, it's another band named after a state they're not from. Illinois are a quartet from the suburbs of Philadelphia who traffic in a kind of freewheeling up-beat folk-pop. "Screen Door" is the first song to be lifted from the bands sophomore EP, What the Hell Do I Know?, which was released last month via Ace Fu Records. The song rides a tractor of banjo, silly keyboards, and train whistle-style woo-woo backing vocals. Despite some bittersweet lyrics, the song's pop harmonies are what lead the way. Currently touring the country with Brit band The Kooks, next month Illinois will hit the road with The Hold Steady for what's sure to be a can't-miss tour.
