Comenzamos el domingo con The lodger, una banda de Leeds, Reino Unido. Quien ha aparecido ya antes en el blog. Y cuyo debut GROWN-UPS está puesto en la barra lateral, para que sigas disfrutando de canciones como "You got me wrong", entre otras.
El segundo trabajo de la banda se va a llamar LIFE IS SWEET, y en este caso va a salir con una gran discográfica de pop (palabras de TheYellowStereo) llamada Slumberland Records.De momento su single "The good old days" no está nada mal.

The Lodger was formed inside the mind of Ben Siddall inside an LS6 bedsit.

After 3 sold-out limited 7s and touring around the UK and Europe with bands such as The Long Blondes and The Research, the group released their debut album “Grown-Ups”, produced by Alan Smyth and James Ford, in June 2007 on Angular Records in the UK, Slumberland Records in the US, Fabtone in Japan and Speak N Spell in Australia.

Critical acclaim for the album followed, particularly on the blogs; the band have featured heavily on the elbo.ws charts since the release along with heavy rotation on US college radio and other stations worldwide.

The album was voted as 62nd best of 2007 on www.amazon.com and 95th in Woxy.com's Top 97 of '07.

The Lodger recently completed their first tour of the USA in October 2007 and then entered the studio to record their 2nd album in November.

The 2nd album "Life Is Sweet" will be released in May 2008.

Currently touring with The Long Blondes and Hot Chip, The Boggs are starting to make waves. The brainchild of New Yorker Jason Friedman, The Boggs have just released their album Forts on Gigantic Music. Joined by various member of indie-darlings The Liars and Au Revoir Simone, Forts sees The Boggs on familiar, experimental ground – blending elements of bedroom acoustica with dense nu-rave beats.

“Poor Things” sounds like the remix of a kids TV theme; all gently strummed ukulele crashing up against repetitive dance rock beats with breaks of overdriven guitar adding texture and flavor. “Poor Things” indeed!-Filter-mag.

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to distract Sufjan Stevens from his uncommon interest in Midwestern lore, your answer lies in Shapes and Sizes, the first and only Canadian act signed to Stevens’ indie-label Asthmatic Kitty. Instead of spinning yarns about the 4th tallest girl in Omaha, Shapes and Sizes record completely bombastic song-writing experiments, tricky tunes that graced their eponymous debut in 2006 and have now sprouted enough underlings to warrant a second release, entitled Split Lips, Winning Hips, A Shiner.

Yes, it’s a bit of a mouthful, but it’s an earful too. Standout track “Alone/Alive” is like a piece of music stuck in a department store fitting room, switching back and forth between the monochromatic mod suit of its mechanical intro and the black-tie + loose jeans combo of its twice-realized breakdown, which brings to mind the image of a garage band tuning their instruments in an orchestra pit. The two outfits are equally entertaining, but whenever the music changes out of one and into the other, it reveals the wiry but broad-shouldered body behind the song’s frenetic, riff-heavy mid-section. The Lodger was born in Ben Siddall’s Leeds bedsit flat. He was making demos on his PC and playing them to whoever happened to pop round for a cup of tea. Once he had three songs, he burnt a CD of them and it was quickly passed around Leeds folk.

Around the same time, new label Dance to the Radio was getting off the ground and offered to release the first single by The Lodger. Two friends were quickly recruited on bass and drums and the band made their live debut.

As the new year began, Dance to the Radio issued their first compilation which featured “Unsatisfied” and then quickly followed it up with the debut single by the band “Many Thanks For Your Honest Opinion”. A further limited 7” single “Watching” was issued as the year drew to a close.

2006 was where the band got their act together – a permanent line-up of Ben, Joe and Katie was established and the band went out on the road with kindred Yorkshire spirits The Research in February. London indie label Angular Records released the band’s third single “Let Her Go” shortly afterwards. This single won the BBC 6music’s Rebel Playlist.

In the summer the band decamped to Alan Smyth’s tiny little Sheffield recording studio to record songs for their debut album. 13 tracks were recorded in a week in September and the result is “Grown-Ups”. This material was road-tested at headlining gigs in the UK and Germany towards the back end of the year.

As 2007 begins, the band head out on an 11-date UK tour with The Long Blondes and have just completed recording a track with James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco.

Descubiertos ayer gracias a la joya de blog Hits in the car que hacia tiempo que no visitaba, con tanto blog para mirar... una descuida éste y otros grandes blogs. Por ello sólo podemos tener disponibles un par de canciones, el resto ya no van los links. Pero a ver si alguna discográfica española saca su disco aqui, ellos han pensando en Elefant Records.
