¡Cloud Cult vuelve este año!

Hace un rato vi en el blog de LitoMusic, que The lodger, una banda que sonó en el blog, cuando poníamos players para que escuchárais música, pero que luego quitamos a petición vuestra, volvería este año con su 3er disco. Se me pasa el tiempo volando, si parece ayer, cuando escuchábamos lo nuevo que formaría parte de su 2º trabajo. (*Enlace sobre lo nuevo de The Lodger*)

Cuando he visto el mail de Cloud Cult, me he alegrado mucho, y luego recapitulando, me he dado cuenta, que su último trabajo salió en el 2008, FEEL GOOD GHOSTS (*escúchalo en Spotify*). Es una banda, de la que siempre tengo en mente algún tema, recuerdo que los descubrí un lunes escuchando un disco de Carla Bruni. No me hacía mucho..y decidí escuchar a unos tal Cloud Cult, justo era el disco anterior al mencionado, llamado THE MEANING OF 8 (2007) (*Escúchalo en el Spotify*) y me quedé pegada a la silla, flipando con lo que estaba escuchando. Desde entonces, moría de ganas por verles en directo, pero supongo que como no tienen intenciones de atravesar el charco, y otras cosas... se me paso querer ver su directo. Hasta hoy, que he leido el mail, y me ha podido mi pasión por su música.:)

Qué chapita os he dejado, y todo para decir, que el 20 de Abril, Cloud Cult saca a la venta un EP llamado "Running With the Wolves", que sirve de anticipo a lo que será su nuevo disco, que saldrá el 17 de Agosto, y se llamará "Light Chasers".

"The wide release of this EP will be April 20th, 2010, to coincide with Earth Day. "Running With the Wolves", is a 4 song, digital EP that will include the new track "Running With the Wolves" from the upcoming August 17th release "Light Chasers". This EP marks the return for Cloud Cult from their longest break from touring and also their longest span between full-length releases. The EP will also include Cloud Cult's version of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man", an alternate version of this track appeared on KEXP's 2007 compilation "Live at KEXP Vol. 3", alongside tracks from The Shins, Grizzly Bear, Peter, Bjorn & John and Beirut. The songs "A Place" and "Where Are You Now?" appeared on the 2009 hand numbered limited edition "Lost Songs from the Lost Years", which included several b-sides from Cloud Cult's previous releases. The Cloud Cult family is sad to lose Dan Greenwood, the original Cloud Cult drummer. Dan has been with us since the days of "They Live on the Sun".

He's as much a brother as a band member. He's easily one of the most beautiful souls you'd ever hope to meet.

After six years of pounding his heart out on Cloud Cult records and through the ups and downs of touring, Dan has decided to move in another direction.

We love you, Dan.

We're overwhelmed with gratitude for the crowd of fans who showed up this last weekend as extras for the shoot of Cloud Cult's new music video. With the blood and spirit of true snowpeople, well over a hundred of you fine folk spent 4 ½ unpaid hours in the cold Minnesota sleet, snow and wind. Cloud Cult -Nuevo disco en Abril 2008

Mi disco favorito del 2007 fue "The meaning of 8", ¿será el nuevo disco de Cloud Cult, "Feel the ghosts", mi disco del 2008?



Minneapolis-based Cloud Cult has revealed an April 8 release date for their long-awaited sixth album, Feel Good Ghosts (Tea-partying Through Tornadoes) (Earthology). As one of the first self-appointed "green bands," Cloud Cult has released their entire catalog through frontman Craig Minowa's Earthology Records, which only issues 100 percent, post-consumer recycled or organic releases. The band's forthcoming environmentally conscious disc promises to be as progressive as it is diverse and a two-month-long headlining stint will follow the release.

Que un primer disco sea fabuloso puede ser casualidad, que el segundo lo sea aún mejor empieza a convertirse en costumbre, pero que el tercero supere todas las espectativas ya viene a colocarles en el olimpo de los grupos de culto.

Ya publicamos con anterioridad "The Meaning of 8" y "Advice From The Happy Hippopotamus" pero con este " Feel Good Ghosts" llegan a una calidad creativa solo al alcance de unos pocos. Verdaderamente inclasificable e incalificable, en él podemos encontrar todas las influencias pop y rock que podamos echarnos a la cara. Con el barroquismo y la arrogancia de los canadienses, la sapiencia estilistica de los nórdicos, la frescura de los británico y la magnifica producción de los estadounidenses. Elementos de instrumentación clásica, guitarras electricas y acusticas, baterias programadas, teclados, samplers,... y unas melodias para enmarcar. Sin duda alguna, lo mejor que podemos escuchar en lo que va de año.

Cloud Cult son Craig Minowa, Connie Minowa, Sarah Young, Scott West, Shannon Frid, Shawn Neary, son de Minneapolis y no salgais corriendo a comprarlo porque no se editará hasta el mes de abril.-Fede.

Cloud Cult- Chain Reaction

Hacia tiempo que no escuchaba de nuevo The meaning of 8, el último trabajo hasta la fecha y primero para mi de Cloud Cult. Temía que no me pareciera tan impresionante como la primera vez que lo escuché. Sin saber nada de ellos, desde el primer segundo de la primera canción del disco supe que sería uno de esos discos que es casi redondo de principio a fin. Nunca recomendaría nada porque no soy quien. Pero éste si sería un disco que si no has escuchado deberías hacerlo. Cada canción es un mundo particular donde encuentras diferentes caminos a lo largo de la misma, y a pesar de todo, el disco en conjunto casa muy bien, es todo un regalo a los oídos. Algunos dicen que el mejor disco es su anterior trabajo. Aunque prefiero The meaning of 8, Advice from the Happy Hippopotamus también tiene temazos. Lo mejor sería ver su puesta en escena, con todos ellos tocando todos los instrumentos que suenan en el disco y sus proyecciones.
