Estaba pensando que no habría nada hoy que escuchar, pero por fin, he encontrado la canción que necesitaba, una con tonos algo épicos. Un poco "Bittersweet symphony" pero actual. Parece que no os ha hecho mucho este grupo cuando os lo he puesto antes, a mi si me gustan, y deseando estoy que aterricen ya por España para darnos algún conciertillo.

Hacía mucho que el cantante de la banda no nos regalaba cositas, y se echaba mucho de menos, al menos para seguir manteniendo ese juego entre el músico y sus fans. Tired Pony began life as a doodle in Gary’s jotter. During idle moments on Snow Patrol’s year-long tour cycle for their last album, A Hundred Million Suns, Gary began writing songs for this imaginary band. Forward to January 4th 2010, a cast of characters assembled at Portland’s Type Foundry studio; from the extended Snow Patrol family there was Troy Stewart, Iain Archer, Belle & Sebastian’s Richard Colburn and producer Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee, who brought in Tired Pony’s final two members, Peter Buck from R.E.M. and Scott McCaughey, the Seattle musical polymath who’s been R.E.M.’s full-time auxiliary member since 1994.

The result is The Place We Ran From a record that begins quietly, and ends with a four-minute feedback storm, with any number of peak moments within.

Joined by a number of guest contributors including M. Ward and his She & Him partner Zooey Deschanel, as well as Tom Smith of Editors, the much rumoured album will finally see its release on 12th July.

Después de mencinar últimamente por este blog, de nuevo a Miracle Fortress, por lo que he empezado a escuchar de este disco, no es difícil adivinar cuál me ha gustado :) De momento la 3."Outdoor gammes", está en mi lista de canciones que me llegan al instante.
La 4 también me ha gustado y la 5 me está encantando. :)

THE XX

Ojeando el gran blog de Lu de UnaPielDeAstracán , me he tenido que fijar en THE XX, porque según parece se está hablando mucho de ellos y yo ..sin enterarme. Se nota que estoy algo descolgada.
El caso es que The XX se caracterizan por voz masculina y voz femenina, cosa que a mi me encanta, y recuerdan un poco a Chairlift y sobre todo a Cocteau Twins. Un sonido etéreo que entra fácilmente, y que hace la escucha de su álbum XX muy agradable.

En septiembre estarán de gira con Florence and The Machine.

The Big Pink "Velvet"

Una de las bandas que desde finales del año pasado ha venido causando sensación en la prensa musical británica es The Big Pink. Un dueto formado por Milo Cordell y Robbie Furze, su estilo es justo lo que esta de moda en estos días, ese neo-shoegaze que bandas desde The Pains of Being Pure At Heart hasta The Horrors se encargan de hacer estos días, aunque The Big Pink parece meterle un poquito más de electrónica a sus asuntos. Empezamos la semana con un poco de música. Hoy se ha estrenado el nuevo vídeoclip de Coldplay para el single "Strawberry Swing".

El colectivo londinense, Shynola, que ya que anteriormente habían colaborado con artistas de la talla de Radiohead o Blur, ha realizado este soberbio vídeo con interminables horas de trabajo en stop-motion, jugando con perpectivas y dibujos con tizas de colores. El resultado es una espectacular aventura con Chris Martin como superhéroe en una peligrosa misión para rescatar a su amada de las garras de una malvada y surrealista ardilla gigante.

Wild Beasts - 'Hooting & Howling' VIDEO

Wild Beasts ess una banda de Kendal (Inglaterra) formada en el año 2002. Unos años más tarde se trasladó a la región de Leeds. La banda es muy reconocida por el supuesto gran falsete en la voz de Hayden Thorpe, el cantante y guitarrista de la banda. Su música es definida como indie rock,aunque de mi parte yo diria que es Art pop o Art rock, ya que asi se dice a un subgénero del rock que se caracteriza por su cierto grado de experimentación. Su álbum debut que se llama ¨limbo,panto¨ fue lanzado a la venta el 16 de junio del año 2008, el cual recibio muy buenas críticas, que en promedio andaban de 8/10. Según dicen su segundo álbum se llamará ¨Two Dancers¨ y saldrá a la venta el próximo 3 de agosto. Asi que espero que a ustedes tambien les guste y el video que les dejo es el primer single de lo que será su segundo disco…
