Una de las cosas a las que nos "mal"acostumbraron los chicos de la desaparecida banda Budapest, fue a irnos regalando demos y temitas de lo que sería su disco. Hacía mucho que el cantante de la banda no nos regalaba cositas, y se echaba mucho de menos, al menos para seguir manteniendo ese juego entre el músico y sus fans. Por fin, volverá con un segundo trabajo, compuesto por nuevos temas, y otros que los seguidores de Budapest conocemos como "So close" o "Lost" (En una recopilación que hice, este tema era el que la abría)

Información:

No estoy nada inspirada, pero brevemente la historia de John Garrison por lo que he leido y he escuchado estos años sería....
Nacido en una familia de músicos, su padre era profesor de música y sus hermanas estudiaron para ello, desde el primer momento John Garrison tuvo interés en este mundo, y desde muy pequeño tocaba el piano y otros instrumentos. A pesar de todo, no fue a ninguna escuela de música, su padre consideró que sería mejor para él tocar según lo sentía, que aprender los acordes de la guitarra y toda la teoría le limitaría a nivel creativo y expresivo. Después de tocar para varias bandas, finalmente John Garrison creo la suya propia, Budapest. Y después de algunos años en los que tenían casi que salirse corriendo del escenario (Esto lo leí en Sinnamon),por fin la banda empezó a despegar. Su sonido recordaba al estilo de Coldplay, al batería de Feeder le encantaba su música... "Too Blind to Hear" fue el primer disco de la banda, justo en la finalización del mismo, el guitarrista y gran amigo del cantante, Mark Walworth, se suicidó, fue un duro golpe para la banda, pero por el trabajo realizado y en memoria de su compañero decidieron seguir adelante con la formación. Con varias actuaciones en España y sobre todo con su participación en Benicassim consiguieron el apoyo del público indie. Después entre el debut y el que sería su nuevo trabajo, diferencias en creatividad y temas personales familiares, como la paternidad, hicieron que la banda quedara reducida a John Garrison, cantante y creador de las letras de todas las canciones, y Chris Pemberton, pianista y segunda voz. Al poco encontraron nuevos compañeros con los que volvieron de gira a España, cosechando gran éxito en todas y cada una de sus actuaciones. A pesar de todo ello, la banda se separó finalmente a finales del 2006, según palabras de John Garrison "Ya no podían seguir poniendo más dinero, para tirar del carro".
Después de la disolución de Budapest, John Garrison se marchó a Nueva York, experiencia que para él ha sido muy importante a nivel personal. Y allí cuajó lo que sería su trabajo en solitario "Above the Cosmos". Varias han sido las actuaciones en Nueva York y alguna ha habido también en Coventry y zonas de alrededor.
Actualmente John Garrison forma parte de la banda que acompaña a James Blunt en su gira.

Las últimas noticias sobre el cantante de Budapest han sido que después de editar su disco en solitario, está trabajando como bajista. Y si un antiguo miembro de Budapest toca la batería para James Blunt, ahora John Garrison formará parte de los músicos que acompañan a James Blunt.

Run (Snow Patrol cover)

Muchas veces nos resulta gracioso o curioso que los chicos versionen a las "divas", otras veces es al contrario, ahora es una de ellas la que versiona a los chicos. Ellos son Snow Patrol, su canción es la maravillosa Run, de la cual me quedo con una versión acústica que escuche hace unos años en Ingravidez, y ella es Leona Lewis. La razón de que la pongamos es por John Garrison, quien participa como músico.
