Dash & Will "Animal"
Thanks to Krissy for telling me about the new album by Dash & Will.
El dúo femenino australiano, que os presenté por aquí, vuelve con un segundo disco para este 2011. Su álbum de debut fue Up in something, que incluía canciones como "Pick You Up", "Fighting Over Nothing", "Out Of Control", las cuales fuimos poniéndlas en el blog.
Su primera canción para este nuevo trabajo se llama "Animal". Y en la foto dejan su lado dulce y colegial, y se dan un aire a las hermanas CocoRosie, ¿no?

The first single ‘Animal’ from Dash & Will’s highly anticipated sophomore album is pure indie-pop perfection: three high-octane minutes of distorted synths, full tilt attitude, and an addictive chorus. It’s an exciting lead into the fresh sounds that’ll be appearing on the new album.
They may have started out writing on acoustic guitars while still teens, but there’s nothing lightweight about the swagger behind Charlie Thorpe (aka Dash) and Josie De Sousa-Reay’s (aka Will) triumphant return. In March 2010 Dash & Will spent several months criss-crossing the Pacific to the US, writing and recording what already promises to be one of the year’s hottest releases, set for release in 2011. Conocí a esta artista, gracias a su canción "Albertine", que me recomendó Andy de la banda británica Ashdowne.
Tras su álbum ALBERTINE, la cantante neozelandesa volverá el 12 de Octubre, con un nuevo trabajo llamado "FLAGS", de momento nos quedamos con la deliciosa canción "Something in the water":

Es una canción original de unos australianos que suenan bastante bien, y de los cuales hablaremos un poco uno de estos días. It also features beautiful keyboard flourishes amid a rich and focused arrangement. It was born from a poignant day in New York when an emotionally drained Temperley stepped out for a walk. "It had just started snowing. It was a magical moment," he recalls. "That night we had to do this Australia gig, and when we got to it we found out that Heath Ledger had died. He'd died two blocks from where I was walking and at the time I was walking and it started snowing. He was from Perth and we were in New York, this big foreign city, and I felt this immense loneliness of this kid from my hometown dying by himself there."-JB HIFI ONLINE

Como parece que no hemos hecho un post sobre ellos, os dejo info suya recogida en Last.fm:
Wolfmother es un grupo de hard rock, procedentes de Australia. Su música se describe como «retro-rock» y está muy influenciada por algunas bandas de rock de los setenta como Led Zeppelin , Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep o Black Sabbath, así como por otras bandas más actuales como The White Stripes o Kyuss, dando como resultado un sonido clásico y fresco.
En 2004, Wolfmother comenzó a aparecer en varios acontecimientos musicales importantes, tales como Homebake y el Big Day Out. En Septiembre de 2004 Sacaron Wolfmother EP, a través de Modular Records. El EP fue un éxito, con unas ventas superiores a las 10.000 copias. En 2005, la banda se fue a Los Ángeles, trabajando junto al productor Dave Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson, y Oasis) para grabar su álbum Wolfmother, lanzado en octubre de 2005.
Wolfmother actuó en el 2006 MTV Movie Awards. Ese año la banda australiana también actuó en el Azkena Rock Festival en Vitoria (España) compartiendo cartel con artistas tan populares como Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop o Buckcherry. También tocaron como teloneros de Pearl Jam en gran parte de la gira europea, actuando en Badalona (España) el 1 de septiembre.
Su canción «Woman» aparece en el videojuego Tony Hawk´s Project 8, Guitar Hero II (PS2 y XBOX 360), y en la banda sonora del videojuego Motorstorm para PlayStation 3. Otro de sus temas, «Dimension», se puede escuchar en el juego Rugby 2006 de EA sport y en el capítulo «Información Reservada» de la 3ª temporada de House.
Han participado también en la banda sonora original de la tercera entrega de Spiderman con la canción «Pleased To Meet You», y también en la banda sonora del juego Need For Speed: Carbono con su canción «Joker and the Thief», que también aparece en Shrek Tercero y Jackass 2.
