La australiana Josephine Ayling llegó a España en 2006 como parte de un
gran viaje alrededor el mundo. Venía de hacer giras en Reino Unido y
Australia con su anterior banda y decidió establecerse en Madrid.

Durante este tiempo continuó escribiendo y grabando canciones con varios
colaboradores, comenzó a hacer conciertos en Madrid como solista
utilizando el seudónimo de Igloo.


Conoció a Alisha Buttke, una chica norteamericana residente en
Madrid, y empezaron a colaborar y actuar en conciertos pequeños. Se
dieron cuenta de que faltaba 'algo' que terminara de crear la atmósfera
que intentaban desarrollar, y por casualidad conocieron a Aurora Aroca,
chelista y pianista, quien completó el trío.


El resultado de estos viajes, casualidades y coincidencias de sus
vidas, se puede apreciar en el sonido único, generado por instrumentos varios
como chelo, viola, piano, guitarras y voces, que crea un ambiente
intenso.


Por fin en 2009, el disco co-producido por Josephine Ayling y Manuel
Cabezalí de Havalina, será publicado por Origami Records, discográfica
con la cual Boat Beam ha firmado recientemente.

Disco muy recomendando por el amigo Fede.

Indiespot también está siguiendo a Passion Pit. Es lo entretenido a veces del mundo de los blogs, seguir con expectación el debut de alguna banda, como pasara cuando yo empezaba por aqui con el debut de Director. Que a cada movimiento o novedad, todos los blogs comentaban algo.

El día de hoy lo comenzábamos con "The reeling", el primer video de un tema de su álbum Manners. Y ya tenemos otro tema, que a algunos nos gusta más. Quizá porque sea menos difícil de escuchar que otros.Es más fácil de escuchar, pero "The reeling" también está bien,porque es sonido Passion Pit, su "marca", lo que les hace especiales y diferentes al resto.

En el 2007 publicamos nuestro primer trabajo en Underhill Records, titulado.."tu es mes yeux"... en el que colaboraron Eduardo martinez, ex teclista de La habitacion roja y Edu Ugarte,el bateria de los half foot outside, y grabado integramente en el estudio de hans krüger, tecnico de Delorean y de Souvenir.
Hasta ahora hemos tenido experiencias muy variadas en este dificil mundo de la musica, hemos tocado mucho este año, en madrid, barcelona, bilbao,vitoria,etc...teloneando a grupos de todo tipo,nacionales y europeos y en tenemos muy buenas criticas sobre nuestro trabajo, en todos los medios especializados donde hemos conseguido entrar, incluyendo criticas muy positivas de entre otros David Broc,( go mag, rock de lux ) o Joseba Vegas ( Mondo Sonoro ).....pero es muy dificil tirar para adelante, sobre todo porla peculiaridad de nuestra musica, el idioma en el que cantamos, el Frances y por vivir en navarra y por carecer de apoyo de una discografica o agencia.
Nuestra discografica" underhill records" dejo de existir a mediados del 2008 por lo que actualmente estamos sin manager ni discografica buscandonos la vida por nuestra cuenta colgando el disco gratuitamente y distribuyendolo por blogs de musica y arte para conseguir mas audiencia y reconocimiento...

They ve got a fanbase that turns out in droves whenever the Newcastle five-piece performs. They ve got an umlaut above the i in Maxïmo. It s the detail that matters, right? And Maxïmo Park got da funk. And they got da disco. And they got the big fckff siren klaxoning its way through Wraithlike, the opening song on their third album Quicken The Heart. Smith, Lukas Wooller (keyboards), Duncan Lloyd (guitars), Archis Tiku (bass) and Tom English (drummer) have made an album that does what it says on the cardiopulmonary resuscitation tin.
I thought the title was apt considering the new songs have a very upbeat nature, says Smith. He s shaving as he talks, standing in a hotel room in Cologne, readying for a covershoot for a German music magazine. Maxïmo Park, unlike many of their so-called peers, are properly big in Europe. They re very euphoric, the frontman continues. Sometimes very dark but at all times they re meant to quicken the heart and set the pulse racing. The line is taken from Wraithlike, and the whole idea of that song is questioning why you d write a song. Well, we write songs to convey emotions and express ourselves. Which may sound like a very basic thing to say. But having listened to a lot of pop music on the radio in my time, I know that that s not normally the case. It was an instinctual thing, says Wooller of that siren revving up through the revved-up Wraithlike. Always on the lookout for hidden sonic corners in his battery of keyboards, he found the sound by accident. Sometimes the simplest things are the best - and having the confidence to do the simplest thing is important. I think the record is shot through with that
feeling. It feels like a very natural record, adds Lloyd. Although there s nothing natural about a record with synths that sound like guitars, and guitars that sound like they re being played by Giorgio Moroder. Nothing natural, but everything exciting...

Its here at last the new single from The Cinematics "Love and Terror"- a testosterone-heavy hymn to the burden of love and desire. It juxtaposes dirty, surf-guitar licks with a chorus that rings like a nail-bomb in a crystal chandelier factory, while the lyrics evoke the embittered attacks of a weeping heart and a cheating lover’s indignant protests of innocence. The song builds to a wild assault of disco beats, funk-punk bass, titanic guitar lines and thunderous timpani reels.

The release is completed by two other new songs, Wish (When the Banks Collapse), a three-minute volley of topical guitar-pop, and Cinema, the sleazy narrative of a film fanatic’s deepening mania

Volviendo a la escena indie nacional, tenía ganas de hablar del trabajo de La bien querida. El cual me ha encantado. Y no paro de canturrear sus canciones. No he escuchado la maqueta, algunos la prefieren, a mi me gusta el disco, pero he de reconocer que la musiquilla camelilla que le han puesto al tema "9.6" hace que sea reticente a escuchar ese tema. Y si lo hago tire de la versión de la maqueta.

El de LA BIEN QUERIDA es uno de los discos más esperados del indie-pop español en los últimos tiempos. Y eso es porque su maqueta enamoró a todo el mundo (elegida mejor del año 2007 por Mondo Sonoro, destacada en Rockdelux y escuchada cientos de miles de veces en myspace, donde su página es una de las más visitadas de un artista novel). LA BIEN QUERIDA, es decir, Ana Fernández-Villaverde, acudió para grabar su debut (7 canciones de la maqueta y 5 nuevas) a David Rodríguez (BEEF), atraída por la portentosa creatividad de su proyecto en solitario LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID. Ana quería domesticar los arreglos estrafalarios y la producción cubista de David hacia sonidos limpios para encajarlos en el entorno amable de sus bellas canciones. Y vaya si lo ha conseguido. La mágica inventiva de David y las dulces melodías de Ana se funden y caminan juntas hacia un lugar exclusivo en el que se mezclan flamenco, música árabe, rancheras y hasta tecno, no se han cortado (cuentan con la ORQUESTA ARAB DE BARCELONA, un guitarrista flamenco, incluso Joe Crepúsculo haciendo voces). Pero eso son solo los colores de las canciones, que no distraen de su componente principal: una portentosa colección de emocionantes melodías vocales, con una belleza abrumadora y unas letras muy interesantes que destripan las relaciones y desnudan los sentimientos con conmovedora sinceridad. El disco tiene el filo armónico de LOS PLANETAS, la encantadora dulzura de LA BUENA VIDA y el contagioso romanticismo de FAMILY, pero en realidad se crea un espacio único. Quizás su principal paralelismo se pueda establecer con el monumental “69 Love Songs” de THE MAGNETIC FIELDS, con canciones aparentemente simples pero con una personalidad artística muy definida y particular que escapa a todos los estilos, o quizás los une todos sin que nos demos cuenta. Y, como en “69 Love Songs”, lo verdaderamente importante es la emoción que transmiten las canciones. “Corpus christi”, “De momento abril”, “Santa fe”, “El zoo absoluto”, “Bendita”, “7 medidas de seguridad”... es un repertorio escalofriante que se disfruta tanto con el corazón abierto inundado de emociones como con la cabeza atenta a los detalles musicales que pululan por la producción. Sin duda es un disco que marcará un hito.

Este tema es el usado por Garnier Fructis para sus productos específicos para mechas. No tengo el spot, pero supongo que pronto lo subirán, es que lo acabo de ver y ese "uuu uuu uuu aaa aaa" me sonaba mucho.

Its difficult to describe Casper, and their sound, without sounding like the cocky bastards that they are, and rightfully so. Experimental massiveness reverberates throughout their shows without the added help of props or an indie-band uniform; just pure working-class rock and roll with a captivating catchiness that leaves you desperate for more, and kicking yourself for not demanding this kind of song writing out of every band for the last few years. Under the Punk sound of the 70's and the Manchester sound-influence of the 80s and 90s, Casper evokes a Brit-rock nostalgia with influences ranging from: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones,The Who, T-Rex, The Stone Roses, The Kinks, The Smiths, and The Happy Mondays, to early RadioHead (The Bends) and Oasis. Casper is the other side of Tinseltown; where pimps, pushers, and some of Angelenos roughest gangs rule over the red carpets and glamour thats captured by the media, then rolled away over the weekend. So here it is, the debut EP from Casper. Sure to put a smile on the faces of fans that are already aware of this bands potential. With the opening track "Maybe This Time" starting the pace, Casper take no prisoners in what can only be described as a very promising BIG sound. The second track "Break it Down" sympathies with the listener by allowing you to get your breath back but before too long it hit's you with that massive sound again. The final track on this EP, released on the ModRock Music label, "Exhibitionist" has a darker sound and perhaps unfolds a side of Hollywood that many don't talk about? The band themselves have had first hand experience of the dark side of Tinseltown, coming come from that area. We say keep experiencing it!

In an effort to bring awareness to the conflict in the eastern Congo and the subsequent wave of refugees in the country, Paolo Nutini has teamed up with Mick Jagger and Ben Affleck for a short film entitled Gimme Shelter. The short film sets footage of the strife-torn Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) against Paolo Nutini’s music.

A short preview clip is available on MySpace and via the link below. Set against Paolo’s rendition of the song of the same name, the preview is attention-grabbing and striking in its imagery. Paolo manages to succeed at covering "Gimme Shelter" masterfully. The song is stripped down to a skeleton and rebuilt and reinforced with a somber and evocative texture which parallels the film clip beautifully. This is certain to strike a chord and pull on some heartstrings. If it doesn’t pull on yours, you probably don’t have any.

First Impressions:
- While Michael Angelakos vocals aren’t exactly to die for, he more than makes up for it with his intricate lyricism. In “Moth’s Wings,” Angelakos sings a metaphor-filled letter to a drifting friend: “You come beating like moths wings/spastic and violently wiping me into a storm/shaking me down to the core/but you run away from me/and you’ve left me shimmering/like diamond wedding rings/spinning dizzily down on the floor.”

- “Fold In Your Hands” is like a shot of pop straight into the veins that leaves you in a trance of synth. With quick angst, Angelakos announces, “Leave me alone/leave me alone/leave me alone I’m fine,” as the track progresses into a crash of synthesizers and high pitch chants.

- Passion Pit retains its synth pop sound. If anything, Manners is a more developed version of Chunk of Change: smarter lyrics, bolder beats and better mixes, aside from the returning “Sleepyhead.”

El grupo británico 'Los Campesinos' y Sidonie son las últimas incorporaciones del festival Extremadura Contempopránea Cruzcampo 2009. En esta decimocuarta edición contamos con otra formación británica ilustre, The Wedding Present, junto a lo más granado del indie patrio: Russian Red, Lori Meyers, Ellos, Catpeople, Love of Lesbian, La Buena Vida, Cooper, We are Standard, Cola Jet Set, Half Foot Outside, Les Tres Bien Ensemble, The Yellow Melodies, los extremeños The Wish, los ganadores del concurso de maquetas del festival, Febrero, junto a los otros dos finalistas Guatafan y Lentejas los Viernes y los dj's Chema Rey, Javier Solis y Chicos Malos djs.
Los Campesinos son una de las mejores bandas internacionales de la actualidad. En estos momentos, no hay ningún grupo que mejor transmita la alegría de vivir tanto como lo consiguen Los Campesinos! que siguen editando canciones memorables y eufóricas. Los galeses se han confirmado como una de las propuestas más frescas del panorama pop. El grupo en cuestión nació en 2006 y no contaba más que con un par de EPs en el mercado, hasta que lanzaron su primer disco, Hold On Now, Youngster a principios de 2008., al que ha seguido un año después We Are Beatiful, We Are Doomed (Wichita/Nuevos Medios). Será el sexto disco de estudio de los barceloneses, un nuevo álbum en castellano que ahonda en diferentes matices y sonoridades manteniendo su estilo único y que sonará en la radio a partir de mayo.

Datarock is a Norwegian band. The band describes their sound as "a mixture of musical styles [they] like." A trio of friends, Fredrik Saroea, Ketil Mosnes and Kevin O'Brien, conceived the group while at a festival in Bergen, and soon hired Tom Mæland. O'Brien and Mæland later left the band, but the duo of Saroea and Mosnes continued the project. Supongo que si lo hace Fede y Lito de vez en cuando yo debo hacerlo :P El jueves estuve mirando un par de cositas, y estoy segura que hay muchas cosas que reseñar. De momento os dejo con un artistas que hace temas de esos que siempre me gustarán, sobre todo cuando empezaba a escuchar y prestar más atención a la música. Un poco sonido Lifehouse, diría incluso que Richard Marx...

Joe Brooks (b. Steven Joe Brooks in Quebec City, Canada) is a Los Angeles based epic/pop singer, songwriter, producer, recording artist, pianist and guitar player.

His music blends alternative, pop and rock into one mainstream sound.

Joe's musical path began in a suburb of Vancouver. Devouring everything on radio, he spent most of his time writing and recording songs using an old piano and a pair of 4-track recorders.

Answering an ad in a local music newspaper, Joe connected with a record producer and got his initial start in the music business. Joe's songwriting skills gained significant radio success in Canada, and a nod from the Canadian Juno Awards.

In l999, Joe moved to Hollywood, California where he began collaborating with writer/producer Tim Feehan. "I came to Los Angeles primarily to work on my own material, but when the opportunity came up to write for teen-queen Tiffany, the harder rock direction she was pursuing really appealed to me".

Billboard Magazine declared Tiffany's The Color of Silence, as one of 2001's best pop records. It included ten tracks co-written by Joe, and prompted extensive touring throughout the US and Asia.

After the tour, Joe returned to California and began writing and placing songs for a variety of network and cable television shows including: The Hills, Ugly Betty, Men In Trees, Pepper Dennis, Ghost Whisperer, Brothers & Sisters, My Name Is Earl, Desperate Housewives, Laguna Beach, Jack and Bobby, Summerland, One Tree Hill, Behind The Music, and True Hollywood Story.

In 2006, Joe decided to focus on his own musical perspective, and returned to writing, recording and performing his own songs.

Music Connection Magazine described Joe as an "exceptional talent" and rated his EP one of 2006's top 25.

In the mornings of 2007, Joe began work on a new self-produced album, by seeking privacy down in the parking garage of his apartment building, where he sat in the back seat of his Chrysler with a cup of coffee and a cracked Seagull acoustic guitar, crafting new songs for hours at a time.

Then, in a studio set up only a few feet from his kitchen, Joe immersed himself in the recording process, playing every instrument except drums, which were performed by renowned drummer Chris Frazier.

In early 2008 Joe Brooks emerged with his latest collection of original material entitled Time Machine.

Most recently, Joe's songs Strange and Lift You Up were featured prominently on the MTV hit The Hills.

In addition to writing and producing his own album TIME MACHINE, Joe has written songs for Tiffany (The Color Of Silence, Dust Off And Dance), Julie Wood, Krayzie Bone (of Bone Thugs N Harmony), Nancy Weisler, Agina, and Mojophonic.

Lucky Soul "Woah Billy" SINGLE

More like "Woah, Lucky Soul!" Since shimmying and shaking their way to one of the best indie pop albums of 2007, these English guitar romantics must've been hitting the gym. Sweating to the 1970s, no doubt: "Woah Billy!", the first offering from the band's upcoming sophomore effort, adds glam muscle and disco glamor to The Great Unwanted's already-keen sense of girl-group melodrama. Why shimmy when you can strut?

The easy critical reference points have changed, but influence-spotting was never really part of Lucky Soul's appeal, anyway. Luckily, soulfully, "Woah Billy!" has the confident songcraft, teenager-sized emotion, and overall pop immediacy that made them such a fun, likable band from the start. Never mind the giddy handclaps and oohing backing vocals-- the old outsider's sadness is here, too, from an opening warning of "dark times ahead" to instant insomniac quotables like "sleep's for the brave." Keep the dark times coming, please, woah or whoa, whoa oh oh.

Wolfmother es un grupo de hard rock, procedentes de Australia. Su música se describe como «retro-rock» y está muy influenciada por algunas bandas de rock de los setenta como Led Zeppelin , Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep o Black Sabbath, así como por otras bandas más actuales como The White Stripes o Kyuss, dando como resultado un sonido clásico y fresco.

En 2004, Wolfmother comenzó a aparecer en varios acontecimientos musicales importantes, tales como Homebake y el Big Day Out. En Septiembre de 2004 Sacaron Wolfmother EP, a través de Modular Records. El EP fue un éxito, con unas ventas superiores a las 10.000 copias. En 2005, la banda se fue a Los Ángeles, trabajando junto al productor Dave Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson, y Oasis) para grabar su álbum Wolfmother, lanzado en octubre de 2005.

Wolfmother actuó en el 2006 MTV Movie Awards. Ese año la banda australiana también actuó en el Azkena Rock Festival en Vitoria (España) compartiendo cartel con artistas tan populares como Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop o Buckcherry. Su canción «Woman» aparece en el videojuego Tony Hawk´s Project 8, Guitar Hero II (PS2 y XBOX 360), y en la banda sonora del videojuego Motorstorm para PlayStation 3. Otro de sus temas, «Dimension», se puede escuchar en el juego Rugby 2006 de EA sport y en el capítulo «Información Reservada» de la 3ª temporada de House.

Han participado también en la banda sonora original de la tercera entrega de Spiderman con la canción «Pleased To Meet You», y también en la banda sonora del juego Need For Speed: Carbono con su canción «Joker and the Thief», que también aparece en Shrek Tercero y Jackass 2.
