Hace tiempo hablamos de ellos ante la eminente salida de su EP, después fue su disco de debut. Pero no habiamos puesto su temazo "Sleepless" en video. Va dedicado a DasYuden, usuario de Cajatonta, y a los que ese día les gustó esta canción.La canción ha sido número 1 en Grecia, según publica la banda en su blog Además su tema "What I've done"(a partir del minuto 1:26 de este video) sale en el 3er DVD de la serie Anatomía de Grey.

Me encanta "Viva la vida" y según parece hay rumores fuertes de que la música de la canción es un plagio de un tema de la francesita Alizée llamado 'J'en ai marre' del 2003. (Noticia en ElMundo).

Y también se rumorea que otro tema es un plagio de una canción de una banda estadounidenses, según parece algunos de los Coldplay les vieron en directo, y la banda en cuestión les ha denunciado por plagio. A ver si me entero de quienes son.
Edito: Según parece Creaky Boards, y también les acusan a Coldplay de que su "Viva la vida" tiene similitudes con una de sus canciones. Gracias a Inadecuado.com podemos comparar.. Bueno os dejo el video que intercala ambas canciones, a ver qué opináis.
A pesar de todo, y si es verdad sería más fuerte que la "fatal" casualidad de la misma portada en el último disco de Interpol y Ola podrida. Coldplay sigue arransando. Las entradas para los dos conciertos en España han volado, aún teniendo ya un precio considerable. Y "Viva la vida" tiene algo que les encantara a los que les gusta cantar en los conciertos, "No cars go" de Arcade Fire se prestaba a ello, ya pusimos un video de lo que sucedió en el Summercase 07. Y "Viva la vida" con ese Ooo ooo oooouuuu va a ser de lo más cantando en el concierto, además que es un tema de sonido "alegre" y casi de podría decir "verbenero".

Espen Lind es noruego. Y hace unos cuantos años, yo diría que unos 10 u 11 años, dios como pasa el tiempo!,sonó en España gracias a su tema "When Susanna cries". El video se pudo ver en el programa que los40 tenía en Canal+, y también su single "Lucky for you" se pudo escuchar y ver. Y su disco RED llegó a España, que a mi me lo regaló mi amiga S. Actualmente es el número 1 en Noruega gracias a su nuevo sencillo "Scared of heights" donde además de la voz de Espen Lind, destaca y sorprende el ukelele.
-Lucky for you El sonido es algo..malo, pero es que esta canción me gustaba mucho, y la versión del video es mejor que la que había en el disco RED. A veces la producción lo hace todo en el resultado final de una canción.

The Rushes formed in 2006 although two of the band members have been playing together since college in Leeds. The two brothers Gerard and James were brought up in Birmingham. Joe is from Colchester and Dan is from South London.
The band have nearly finished recording their debut album for Island Records with producer Victor Van Vugt (Athlete, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey).
Sure, the Rushes will probably go the way of Ghosts and Air Traffic before them after teaming up with a big-shot producer and realizing they could easily access Coldplay-esque stratospheres of fame, but between their debut EP and the tracks on their MySpace (I’m particular, er, taken by “Easily Taken”), there’s more than enough reason to get excited about the Rushes in the meantime.

El último trabajo de Five O'Clock Heroes se llama "Speak your language", y en él está este "Who". Que me alegro que se haya elegido para hacerlo en video, porque no puedo evitar sentir debilidad por voces masculinas y femeninas cantando juntas. Sobre la voz femenina, no tenía ni idea de quien era, y ha resultado ser una chica llamada Laura Hollins, no sé si del 83 o del 86, que es una de las modelos del momento.

El viernes 13 de Junio actuaron dentro del FIACyL, Digitalism. Una de las más esperadas, y que la gente más disfrutó. El sonido podría haber sido algo mejor, a pesar de ello fue toda una fiesta.
Creo que esta canción se usa en una anuncio de Rexona o algún desodorante. No es ni Amy Winehouse ni Duffy ,como diría GRIMOR, usuario de Cajatonta. Ella es Gabriella Cilmi.

A las 23.30h del miércoles 11 de Junio del 2008, empezaba la actuación de Rufus Wainwright. Sin duda alguna, una de las más esperadas dentro del 4º Festival Internacional de las Artes de CyL, ya que había mucha gente,cámara encendida para inmortalizar su salida al escenario. Él solo llenó el escenario y la Plaza Mayor. Y la sorpresa de la noche era algo relacionando con la "moda". Salió vestido de torero. Ole maestro!! :)
Intentó repasar un poco toda su discografía, también tocó temas nuevos, hizo comentarios de como le sentaba el traje de torero, y también aprovechó para promocionar el nuevo trabajo de su hermana Marta.
La canción del video es un trocito de su "Going to a town".
Curiosidades:
-Gira que hace por dinero, ya que quiere crear una ópera. -Ha tocado otras veces en espacios grandes, lo suyo con la Plaza Mayor fue una conexión cósmica, la Plaza quería que él tocara en ella.
También grabé el momento más esperado su Hallelujah, Athelass ya lo ha subido y se ve el momento "Mira que bien me hace el pantalón de torero a mi trasero", así que pongo su video que se ve mejor.

Info en su MySpace: EL OSO was a Milwaukee, WI band that formed in late 2003 and peformed shows from Jan 31, 2004 until Feb 10, 2006. The band self-released several demo and live EP's and appeared on several compilations. In 2005, Contraphonic Music, Ltd released the band's first and only full-length, Whichever Chapter Covers Now. Shortly after, the band recorded a 7-song EP, but disbanded before its release. On June 10, 2008, after 2+ years in the vaults, the Making Love, Making Beds EP was released for free download.

Brothers Thorry and Isaac Koren are a long way from singing harmonies in the backseat of the car on family trips in their hometown of Adelaide, Australia. The brothers, known simply as The Kin, were following different musical paths until they united to create a song as a wedding present for their father in 2003. Instantly, the brothers knew they’d stumbled upon something amazing. As Isaac said, “After we played together we realized that we couldn’t not do this.”
Pursuing separate endeavors that led them both to US soil via New York City, The Kin went in search of the true human experience in America. They hopped into an old VW bus, left New York, and drove across the country, making friends, making fans and writing the songs that would soon become Rise and Fall. The brothers fell in love with America. They were struck by the beauty and the struggle that permeates daily life. “We were able to get a true insight into what it’s like to be human,” said Isaac.
In autumn 2006, the band rented a 200-year-old farm house in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to record Rise and Fall. Thorry said the brothers were, “convinced the house was haunted.” Still, it was there that their vision began to coalesce into an album, sparking the passions of producer Nic Hard (The Bravery, Jesse Malin, Aberdeen City), and executive producer Philip Stephano. The Kin collaborated with Stephano to build Aletheia Entertainment, an innovatively-structured, independent record label capable of sustaining their unique musical concept. Together, Hard, Stephano and The Kin set out to create an original, artistic record that was an organic expression of their experiences. As Thorry said, “We wanted to stay away from homogeny. We did not want to make a commercial record.”
With the exception of strings, The Kin played every instrument on the record, including bass and drums, themselves. The brothers utilized every inch of the forty-acre property to record an unflinching, uncompromising effort that included the sounds of automobiles driving past, a hunter’s bullet wizzing by, late night drunken conversations, fingers running around the rims of wine glasses and a myriad of other quirky, eccentric noises and sounds, all of which give Rise and Fall a feel and sound entirely its own.
Thorry and Isaac delved deep and expressed themselves in ways that seemed to contradict everything they thought they knew about recording. The song, “Photographs” has no recognizable words except, Photographs, as it was recorded at 3am without their knowledge while they effortlessly jammed throughout the wee hours of the night. “Desert Rose” was written and recorded on the spot. “Abraham,” a song of two brothers who shared the same father that was inspired by the story of the biblical Abraham, was captured on the first take. Thorry, (the more classically trained of the two) let down his guard while playing an 18th century Steinway piano on the vulnerable interlude, “Waiting.”
There, in that cold, dark house, amidst three monstrous fireplaces, a vacuous library and amongst any number of specters and apparitions, Rise and Fall was born - and in many ways, The Kin was born as well. What started out as an experimental, personal record turned into an accessible homage to the human experience, featuring 14 tracks of ambient, melodic songs, poignant lyrics and haunting harmonies. “At first the songs felt like they were only for us,” said Isaac, “but soon they became songs for everybody.”
After the release of Rise and Fall, the brothers worked their way into the New York music scene where their live show elicited a stirring response from all those who witnessed it. Billboard Magazine wrote, “The Australian siblings have a radiant gift for songwriting and performing that infuses their live shows and is winning believers in clubs across the United States. The Koren brothers’ trump cards are their vocals and dual harmonies—unaffected and quietly passionate. Hearing their partnership is a humbling experience.”
Describing themselves as “road dogs,” The Kin’s live show inspires swarms of new “kinfolk” to discover the band with each performance and has compelled Good Day New York (FOX) to dub them, "the most promising independent rock band in New York." Since October 2007, they have logged over 35,000 miles on their van’s odometer including a full US tour with Josh Kelly and Pat McGee Band where they showcased Rise and Fall’s music for eager audiences in every city and reminisced about the great land that inspired the record. They soon followed with a triumphant return to their homeland where they thrilled seas of old and new fans at the Woodford Folk Festival in Australia.
The Kin’s music has been featured on radio including Q104.3 NY, 104.7 MA, WZBC Boston, WMMR and XM Radio. They’ve made several notable TV appearances, including FOX’s Good Day New York and Fearless Music TV, Backstage with Barry Nolan on Comcast and CBS Saturday Morning’s Second Cup Cafe. Their print credits include Billboard, New York Times, BMI, Time Out New York, YRB, Foam and more. Recently, the duo had three of Rise and Fall’s songs featured on Lifetime TV’s critically acclaimed series, Army Wives and one on CBS’s hit show Moonlight.
Besides creating music that spans the globe, the brothers Koren are devoted to creating a better world. They recently began working with, and promoting the efforts of, charity:water (www.charityis.org), a non-profit initiative bringing clean water and basic sanitation into impoverished communities throughout Africa and the world. They band raises money through awareness and outreach via their website as well as by performing at organization sponsored events. As of March ‘08, they have raised over $35, 000. The band also works closely with Save Darfur (www.savedarfur.org), an organization aimed at fighting for human rights in the Sudan region.
The Kin plan to spend the bulk of 2008 touring across the US, with the end of the year finding them back in the studio to record their next full length to be released in Spring 2009. As Rise and Fall was born out of admiration for the human experience in America, its follow up will pay reverence to the humanity and the experiences that make up their Australian homeland.

Pocas son las ocasiones en las que me adentro en territorio electrónico, de hecho tiendo a ser bastante previsible en la elección de los grupos que aparecen por aquí, pero en esta ocasión voy a intentar sorprenderos con un grupo realmente interesante y distinto de lo habitual.
Evagelia Maravelias y Brian Wenckebach son los dos componentes de Elika, grupo formado en Nueva York en el año 2005, podríamos decir que se trata de un indie-pop electrónico, muy próximo al sonido dream-pop y al shoegaze, siendo sus influencias Slowdive, Karen Carpenter, Boards of Canada, Nico, Squarepusher o Flying Saucer Attack.
Su álbum de debut, Tryng Got Us Nowhere ha sido publicado recientemente a través del sello discográfico Fiercely Independent Records, en él han contado con Jason Martin (Starflier 59) quién se ha encargado de la producción del mismo. Entre los 7 temas que lo componen (8 en la edición especial en formato vinilo) vamos a encontrarnos una gran variedad musical, siempre dentro de una línea sonora bastante definida, En la vertiente más pop del grupo podríamos situar algunos temas como “The Whip” con una perfecta combinación de guitarras y sintetizadores o “Let Down” cuya melodía es una delicia. Sin embargo, en otros temas como “Nowhere” o “To The End” se puede apreciar un sonido más experimental, más cercano al shoegaze y el dream-pop. Además, también hay cabida en este disco para un tema instrumental, “Confidence Killed my Spirit”.
En definitiva, se trata de un disco muy completo en el que merece mención especial la dulce y cálida voz de su cantante Evagelia.
Standard-Noche Ártica-6 de Junio 2008-Plaza Mayor Salieron casi a las 23h, y ya el cantante estaba algo animadillo. Y todo el rato diciendo que "bailaramos". Además de temas conocidos como "Pressure", "On the floor"... tocaron tres temas nuevos, uno de ellos se llamaba "Bye,bye,bye".

Delorean-Noche Ártica-6 de Junio 2008-Plaza Mayor
Es lo que tiene tener el corazón dividido, asi que, aunque fastidió, no nos queríamos perder tampoco algo de Delorean, y allí estuvimos.El video lo he subido a megavideo.com, pero no se carga. Por las fotos y por los videos ya se sabe que una de las cosas más interesantes de esta banda es su puesta en escena. Pero también es importante el sonido y las canciones, y ellos no dejaron ni un segundo para que la gente se parara ni quitara la vista del escenario.
Jeje, deberían tener a éste para hacer un spot de todos los festivales, a mi me queda más claro qué bandas van, jeje. Y las que no van, también están muy bien,eh? Jeje.
Título del nuevo trabajo de la hermana de Rufus (el cual nos deleitará, espero, con una actuación en solitario el 11 de Junio en la Plaza Mayor de Salamanca). El disco de Martha Wainwright saldrá el 10 de Junio a través de Zoe Records. La menciamos anteriormente en el blog, por su participación en el temazo Set fire to third bar incluido en Eyes Open,último disco hasta la fecha de Snow Patrol.

Armin van Buuren & Dj Shah feat. Chris Jones - Going Wrong
Armin van Buuren went through an amazing 2007. He won several awards like the Dutch Pop Award and he got voted number 1 DJ of the world by the readers of the British leading dance magazine DJ Mag.
A couple of years ago, Armin was playing at his weekly night Armada hosts in Amnesia, Ibiza. In the audience was the talented producer, DJ Shah from Germany, who decided to step up to Armin and give him his new track. Now in 2008 that same guy teamed up with Armin van Buuren and Chris Jones to deliver this new single!
April 19th this year Armin will launch his new artist album called "Imagine" at the Armin Only event which holds the same name as the album. "Going Wrong" is the result of the corporation with German DJ Shah and British singer Chris Jones. No llegué al inicio del concierto, asi que, desconozco la reacción de quien no se enterara hasta ese momento, de que Santogold se había caido del cartel. Pero cuando llegamos la gente estaba bailando y disfrutando del concierto de The right ons, lo cual era buena señal. Muchos de los que había delante eran extranjeros, y parecían también receptivos a la propuesta de los de Madrid. Ellos sin duda alguna lo dieron todo, y energía no les faltó hasta el final. Aún así fue una pena lo de Santogold, tanto foráneos, que les guste el estilo de música de la americana, como gente de aqui hubieran querido verla, más ahora en sus inicios. No sea que luego se haga demasiado grande y se haga más difícil poder verla en ciudades como Salamanca.
Aquí os dejo un video de la actuación de ayer. La cámara ya sabéis que da para poco, más bien para nada que se refiera a grabar o fotografiar a lo lejos. Y la calidad del audio no es del todo buena. Pero lo he visto peores en el YouTube :P
